Many years ago, someone in the family collected recipes from descendants of my great grandparents, William M. and Florence E. (Snodgrass) Whaley and had them compiled into a cookbook. I am posting those recipes here so that they will not be lost. This recipe was submitted by Lynette and Mason Lee Benton Jr.

Ingredients

1 package corn bread mix, prepared and baked as directed on package
1 pound bacon, fried until crisp, crumbled
1 cup fresh green onions,
- mayonnaise

How To Make mason's cornbread salad

Step 1

Crumble corn bread into serving bowl.

Step 2

Add crumbled bacon and diced onions.
Step 3

Add enough mayonnaise to moisten the salad. Serve and enjoy.
Step 4

If green onions are out of season, purple onions are a good substitute.
