From an Ethiopian video site. While this is an authentic recipe, it does not contain the typical Ethiopian berbere seasoning, nor does it have torn bits of injera. Which works for me - no access to any ethnic grocery store and I'm a wimp for heat!

Ingredients

  • 2-3 large
    tomatoes, sliced
  • 2 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp
    lemon juice
  • 1/2 small
    jalapeno, seeded and cut into matchsticks
  • 2 clove
    garlic, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 medium
    white onion, roughly chopped

    salt to taste

How to Make Ethiopian Tomato Salad - Timatim Firfir

Step-by-Step

  1. Arrange tomato slices on a large plate.
  2. Sprinkle with salt. Distribute onion, garlic and pepper evenly over tomatoes.
  3. Whisk together lemon juice and olive oil. Pour over tomatoes.
