Many years ago, someone in the family collected recipes from descendants of my great grandparents, William M. and Florence E. (Snodgrass) Whaley and had them compiled into a cookbook. I am posting those recipes here so that they will not be lost. This recipe was submitted by Gail Pierson.

No-Cook or Other


  • 1 pkg
    (3 oz) jell-o, any flavor
  • 1 small
    carton cottage cheese
  • 1 small
    can crushed pineapple, drained
  • 1 small
    tub cool whip

How to Make Congealed Salad


  1. Mix Jell-O, cottage cheese and pineapple well.
  2. Fold in Cool Whip and refrigerate for a couple of hours before serving.
  3. Optional:
    May add 1/2 cup mandarin oranges, drained and cut up.
