I grew up eating wilted lettuce...I love this recipe...It goes with just about anything...I love this because it is easy and wonderful to eat..It is hard to quit eating....

Ingredients

  • SALAD

  • 1
    leaf lettuce (head)
  • 6
    green onions
  • DRESSING FOR WILTING

  • 5 slice
    bacon
  • 2 Tbsp
    red wine vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp
    lemon juice
  • 1 tsp
    white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground black pepper

How to Make Wilted Lettuce

Step-by-Step

  1. 1 Head 1eaf lettuce - rinsed, dried and torn into bite-size pieces
    Green onions with tops, thinly sliced


    1. Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Remove from skillet, crumble and set aside.
  2. 2. To the hot bacon drippings, add the vinegar, lemon juice, sugar and pepper. Stir over medium heat until hot.
  3. 3. In a large bowl, combine the lettuce and green onions. Add the warm dressing and toss to evenly coat. Sprinkle with bacon and serve.
