We make many versions of Layered Lettuce Salad, however, this one was the original recipe we made in Eagle River, and I always wanted some variety of it for my birthday dinner. Easy to put together, easy to transport, and oh so yummy!

Ingredients For layered lettuce salad (original recipe)

  • 1
    head lettuce, torn into bite sized pieces
  • 1 c
    chopped green pepper
  • 1 sm
    chopped onion
  • 1 c
    chopped celery
  • 1 c
    mayonnaise
  • 2 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1 box
    frozen peas
  • bacos or crumbled bacon
  • 1 c
    shredded cheddar
  • 1 can
    water chesnuts (8 oz, sliced saves time)

How To Make layered lettuce salad (original recipe)

  • 1
    Layer vegetables in 9x13. Coat with mayo, sugar, bacon, then cheese. Refrigerate 4 or more hours.
