Have It Your Way Cheeseburger Salad

Sherry Peyton

This is so unexpected, so counter-intuitive that your mouth is shocked. It's salad but its really a cheeseburger. Try this. I got this recipe from Ree Drummond, the PioneerWoman. If you like this recipe see others at my website: mybestcookbook.wordpress.com

Add to Grocery List

2 lb
ground beef
1/3 c
1 Tbsp
yellow mustard
1 Tbsp
dijon mustard
2 Tbsp
barbecue sauce of your choice
heads romaine lettuce or equivalent, torn into pieces
dill pickles diced
roma tomatoes or equivalent, diced
1 c
grated cheddar cheese
1 medium
red onion, sliced thin
hamburger buns
1 stick

How to Make Have It Your Way Cheeseburger Salad

  • 1Brown the meat and then add the ketchup, mustards and bbq sauce ( I just about doubled what she indicated except for the ketchup). Mix and continue cooking until done. (drain meat if there is excessive fat before you add the ketchup and other seasonings)
  • 2Dice up the hamburger buns (I used plain bread instead) and melt half the butter in a pan. Add the croutons and saute on medium, adding more butter as needed until browned and crispy.
  • 3Place salad on each of the 4 plates. I placed all the rest of the stuff in dishes on the table and let each person make their own.
  • 4It seems that there should be a dressing, but trust me, as you start to eat, you will realize how perfect this is. You can pick up all the "parts" of a cheeseburger in the proportions you want! It tastes like a terrific cheeseburger and has lots of crunch. It's just such a surprise!
