I enjoy making this recipe because a cake pan is the mold. It's fun to make and to serve. This is very good with different flavored gelatins too.

Ingredients

  • 1 can pineapple slices ( 1lb. & 4.5oz.)
  • 1 package orange gelatin
  • - water
  • - maraschino cherries
  • 1 cup cottage cheese

How To Make upside down fruit salad

  • Step 1
    Drain the pineapple slices ; reserve liquid and add enough water to measure : 1-1/2 cups.
  • Step 2
    Bring to a boil and then stir into pkg. of the gelatin. Cool until almost syrupy.
  • Step 3
    Arrange pineapple and cherries in a 8x8 round cake pan pour on 1/2 the gelatin; chill until set. (set aside the rest of the gelatin and keep at room temperature.)
  • Step 4
    Combine the remaining gelatin with 1 cup drained cottage cheese and pour over the first level.
  • Step 5
    Let the whole salad chill and set.
  • Step 6
    To unmold , dip the pan in warm water , cover with a plate , invert and shake firmly.
