My mother-in-law use to make this at every family gathering. It didn't matter what time of the year it was, Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years.

Ingredients

  • 6
    oranges, peeled and separated, sliced in half
  • 1 can(s)
    pineapple tidbits (large), drained
  • 1 bunch
    seedless grapes, washed and sliced in half
  • 4 medium
    apples, washed and sliced into bite size pieces
  • 3 large
    bananas, peeled and sliced
  • 1 pt
    strawberries, cleaned and sliced
  • 3/4 c
    walnut pieces, divided 1/4 for garnish
  • 1 large
    container of cool whip
  • 1 large
    jar of maraschino cherries

How to Make Holiday Fruit Salad

Step-by-Step

  1. Put apples and bananas in just before serving. Clean and prepare fruit and put in large bowl to mix. Now mix in the cool whip walnut pcs. and some of the maraschino cherries. When ready to serve put in the bananas and apples and mix through. Sprinkle the 1/4 cup walnut pcs. on top along with a few of the maraschino cherries. Can also add coconut toasted or not, if you desire.
