This is my version of a Waldorf salad. It does not last long at our house!

Ingredients For nan's fruit salad

  • 3 - 4 lg
    apples, chopped; red delicious, Granny Smiths, or a mix (3 1/2 - 4 cups)
  • 1 1/4 c
    chopped celery
  • 1 1/4 c
    chopped walnuts
  • 1/3 c
    raisins
  • 1 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp
    either apple or pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 c
    prepared whipped cream
  • 3/4 c
    whipped cream cheese, like plain or mixed berry
  • 1 Tbsp
    vanilla extract

How To Make nan's fruit salad

  • 1
    Peel and chop apples and celery.
  • 2
    Chop walnuts and add them to the apples along with the raisins. Toss together.

    Add spices and toss.
  • 4
    In a separate bowl, mix the whipped cream, cream cheese, and vanilla.

    Add the whipped cream mixture to the apple mixture.

    Mix together.

    Cover and chill 15 - 20 minutes or so before serving. Sprinkle a little cinnamon or apple pie spice on top for garnish.
