This was a recipe that my mother used to make for my father--he loved it. It's a great recipe for a hot summer day. And, very easy to throw together.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

Frozen fruit salad is a very old-fashioned recipe. This is a tangy and sweet treat filled with bits of delicious fruit. It can be served as a fruit salad or a dessert. Perfect addition to brunch, luncheons, or any occasion really.

Ingredients

  • 1 small container sour cream (8 oz)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup chopped maraschino cherries
  • 1/2 cup nuts
  • 1 can crushed pineapple, drained (20 oz)
  • 2 - bananas, diced
  • 1 cup Cool Whip

How To Make frozen fruit salad

  • Sour cream, sugar, and lemon juice mixed together.
    Step 1
Stir the first three ingredients together until creamy.
  • Cherries, nuts, and pineapples mixed together.
    Step 2
Add the rest of the ingredients (except Cool Whip).
  • Folding in the Cool Whip.
    Step 3
    Fold in the Cool Whip.
  • Mixture poured into a loaf pan.
    Step 4
So it will come out of the loaf pan easier, line the loaf pan with foil. Pour ingredients into a loaf pan and freeze. Once frozen, just pull the foil/salad out of the pan
  • Frozen Fruit Salad ready to be sliced.
    Step 5
This salad freezes like an ice cube. I would recommend taking it out of the freezer for about 30-45 minutes before serving to let it soften a bit. (It also tastes better if it has softened.)
