Cranberry Salad

My mother-in-law served this recipe for years using fresh cranberries. I modified it a bit over the years, now my family expects it every Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's a great recipe for busy moms.

  •   1 pkg
    black cherry jello mix
  •   1 can(s)
    whole cranberry sauce
  •   1 can(s)
    pineapple, crushed (drained)
  •   2 can(s)
    mandrin oranges (drained)
  •   1
    tart apple chopped into bite size
  •   1 c
    chopped pecans or walnuts

How To Make

  • 1
    Prepare jello mix with 1 cup boiling water and 1/2 cup cool water.Pour into 11x13 serving dish and refrigerate until almost set. Remove from refrigerator and add remaining ingredients. Stir around so added ingredients are well distributed in dish. Return to refrigerator until well-set. If you want to add a topping; Mix 1 and 1/2 cups Cool Whip and 1/2 cup sour cream blended well together and spread over top of salad.Depending on how sweet or tart you want your topping just add more Cool Whip or sour cream. (this topping is personal preference.
