This will work just fine with canned whole berry cranberries if fresh ones are not available.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz packages fresh cranberries
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 package cranberry or raspberry jello
  • 1 can cherry pie filling
  • 1 small can crushed pineapple
  • 1 small can mandarin oranges (optional)
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped (optional)

How To Make cran-cherry salad

  • Step 1
    Drain canned fruit and add 1/2 cup of the juice to the 1 1/2 cup water, making a total of 2 cups liquid. Bring water, juice from fruit, and sugar to a boil, then add washed cranberries. Bring to a boil again, then lower heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Remove from heat and stir in jello, pie filling, and fruit(s), with chopped walnuts or pecans if desired.
  • Step 3
    Allow mixture to cool for 1/2 hr, then pour into glass bowl. Cover and Refrigerate over night.
