This is a very old, much used family recipe. It makes such a pretty presentation.

Ingredients

  • 1 can crushed pineapple (the large can)
  • 1 small box strawberry jello
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 8 ounces tub of cool whip

How To Make buttermilk salad

  • Step 1
    Drain about 3/4 of the liquid from the pineapple.
  • Step 2
    Pour the pineapple and the rest of the liquid into a small pot and warm.
  • Step 3
    Mix the jello and the pineapple w/ liquid.
  • Step 4
    Next stir in the buttermilk.
  • Step 5
    Refrigerate until thick. **This will take a while. I usually let it sit overnight.**
  • Step 6
    Gently mix in the cool whip and pecans into the buttermilk mixture and place into your serving bowl. It's ready to serve!
