My family loves this recipe for taco salad on Christmas day every year.

  • 1 large
    bag of dorito's nacho cheese chips, crushed
  • 1 lb
    ground beef, cooked and drained
  • 1 pkg
    taco seasoning mix
  • 1 pkg
    bag of salad mix or head lettuce, chopped
  • 1 pkg
    cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 medium
    tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 bottle
    (16 oz.) catalina salad dressing

How to Make Taco Salad


  1. Fry hamburger and drain grease off. Add the taco seasoning and cook according to package directions. While hamburger is cooking, crush the dorito's in the bag. In a large bowl, place the crushed dorito's, crush them more so they are in small pieces.
  2. After the hamburger mixture is done. Let it cool for a couple minutes, then you start layering the salad. Crushed dorito's, taco meat, lettuce, tomatoes and the cheese. Add 1 bottle of catalina salad dressing over the top of salad, stir to mix salad up. If more dressing is needed, use the 2 bottle of salad dressing to make it more to your own liking. I use 2 bottles of salad dressing to make it moist because the chips will soak up some of the dressing.
