My family loves this recipe for taco salad on Christmas day every year.

Ingredients

  • 1 large bag of dorito's nacho cheese chips, crushed
  • 1 pound ground beef, cooked and drained
  • 1 package taco seasoning mix
  • 1 package bag of salad mix or head lettuce, chopped
  • 1 package cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 medium tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 bottles (16 oz.) catalina salad dressing

How To Make taco salad

  • Step 1
    Fry hamburger and drain grease off. Add the taco seasoning and cook according to package directions. While hamburger is cooking, crush the dorito's in the bag. In a large bowl, place the crushed dorito's, crush them more so they are in small pieces.
  • Step 2
    After the hamburger mixture is done. Let it cool for a couple minutes, then you start layering the salad. Crushed dorito's, taco meat, lettuce, tomatoes and the cheese. Add 1 bottle of catalina salad dressing over the top of salad, stir to mix salad up. If more dressing is needed, use the 2 bottle of salad dressing to make it more to your own liking. I use 2 bottles of salad dressing to make it moist because the chips will soak up some of the dressing.
