1 c. of crushed pretzels (some use the processor for this, I take a freezer bag and place pretzels in it and crush with a mallet)

1 stick of margarine or butter, melted
•
1 c. sugar, divided
•
20-oz. can crushed pineapple
•
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
•
8-oz. cream cheese, softened
•
8-oz. Cool Whip ®, thawed
