INGREDIENTS

Pastry:

125g plain flour
•
60g butter, softened, not melted
•
1 tsp baking powder
•
60g caster sugar
•
1 tsp vanilla extract
•
pinch of salt
•
1 egg
•
I normally use a food processor to prepare the pastry, even though a bowl and a pair of hands can do the job perfectly fine.

(1) Place the ingredients in a food processor and process until the pastry draws together in a ball
•
(2) If it feels too sticky, you can add some flour. If it feels too dry, though, you can add some water and further process
•
(3) Roll out the pastry and set aside
•
The filling:
•
500ml milk
•
75g butter
•
100g semolina
•
100g poppy seeds
•
75g caster sugar
•
1 tsp vanilla extract
•
1 eggs
•
50g curd cheese (alternative: Quark)
•
25g ground almonds
•
1/2 pear, peeled and grated
