INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoons (30 mL) softened unsalted butter
6 large eggs
1 cup (250 mL) sugar
1 teaspoon (5 mL) vanilla extract
Zest of 1 lemon, grated
1 cup (250 mL) milk
1 cup (250 mL) heavy cream, plus more to whip for garnish
4 cups (1 L) day-old 1/2- inch (1-cm) country- bread cubes, crusts removed
2 Bosc pears, peeled, cored, and cut into 1/2- inch chunks
1/3 cup (80 mL) blanched sliced almonds
