This basic oyster dressing (or stuffing) recipe is a must for many holiday tables.

Ingredients

  • 1 can 8-oz. whole oysters, drained, chopped, and liquid reserved
  • 2 cups herb stuffing mix
  • 2 cups cornbread stuffing mix
  • 1/2 cup celery, chopped
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 3/4 cup hot chicken broth

How To Make oyster dressing

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, combine oysters, stuffing mixes, celery, and onion. Gradually add reserved oyster liquid and chicken broth, stirring to moisten all pieces.
  • Step 2
    Place in ungreased 2-quart casserole dish and bake, covered, for 25 to 30 minutes or until hot. Remove cover and continue baking for an additional 5 to 10 minutes or until top forms a light brown crust.
