1 1/2 cup Chopped dried dates (or dried apricots which I am tempted to try soon)

2/3 cups Water
•
1 1/2 cup All purpose flour

1 1/4 teaspoon Baking powder
•
1 teaspoon Baking soda
•
1 teaspoon Grated ginger
•
1 teaspoon Pure vanilla extra
•
2 Large eggs, room temperature
•
5 tablespoons Butter, room temperature
•
3/4 cups Sugar
•
1/4 cup Whole milk
•
For the Sauce: 2 cups heavy cream + 1 1/2 cup dark brown sugar + 4 tbsp butter + 1 tsp vanilla + 6 tbsp rum
