¼ cup lukewarm water (110°F – 115°F)
•
1 ½ cups lukewarm buttermilk (110°F – 115°F)
•
⅓ cup granulated sugar
•
½ cup shortening, melted and slightly cooled
•
4 ½ cups bread flour (measured properly, see note below)
•
1 ½ teaspoons salt
•
½ teaspoon baking soda
•
1-2 tablespoons melted butter
