INGREDIENTS
***For the steak:***
4 (1/2-pound) cube steaks
salt, to taste
black pepper, to taste
1 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon Montreal Steak® Seasoning
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
1 egg
3 cups avocado oil or neutral-flavored oil
***For the gravy:***
12 ounces breakfast sausage, crumbled or grated
3 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups chicken broth
1/2 cup heavy cream
salt, to taste
black pepper, to taste
mashed potatoes, optional, to taste, cooked and hot, for serving
2 tablespoons parsley, optional, finely chopped, for garnish
