This was given to me from my art teacher (Joanne Robitschek) many many years ago & it works well! It protects your oil paintings from fading & gives it a nice shine.

Ingredients

  • REGULAR BATCH:
  • 4 tablespoons grumbacher stand oil
  • 3 tablespoons grumbacher damar varnish
  • 12 tablespoons turpentine or turpenoid
  • LARGE BATCH:
  • 2.5 oz jars + 1 tbsp grumbacher stand oil
  • 2.5 oz jars grumbacher damar varnish
  • 1 cup turpentine or turpenoid

How To Make oil painting goop

  • Step 1
Mix all together in a glass jar. I usually make a bigger batch so it lasts. Here is a great art supplier that carries EVERYTHING that you need: (Jerry's Artarama) http://www.jerrysartarama.com/
  • Step 2
Buy a bunch of junkie, cheap big brushes (cause the stuff won't come out of them).
  • Step 3
USING ON OIL PAINTINGS: Let painting dry at least 1 - 6 months (depending on the colors used).
  • Step 4
Paint an even amount of goop on painting & spread evenly. NOTE: Keep in an area that the painting will not be disturbed. PATIENTS! The goop will take anywhere from 1 - 3 months to dry, but you will only have to apply it just once. Your painting will be protected from the paint fading & it will give it a nice shine.
