Every year my husky sheds massive amounts of fur as the summer months approach. I had never thought much about it until one day I watched a bird steal a clump off the deck where she was laying. It took it straight to it's nest. Some bell rang in my head. This fur is actually useful to wild creatures making their nests for their young. Since then every year we put it out in feeders so the birds and squirrels can feather their nests for their young. We also include scraps of string, thread, lint from a dryer and any bits of soft fluff we can find.
