This is a super simple dog treat recipe that was given to me by my friend who is a veterinarian student. These are super easy to make and definitely healthier than the store-bought stuff. I bake batches of this for my puppy as well as my family/friend's dogs all the time. It's really easy to alter to your pets liking. For example: My Chinese Crested loves carrots, so I will occasionally add about 1/4 cup grated carrots to the mix.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup peanut butter (i use organic)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • OPTIONAL: (FOR DOGS WITH NO/WEAK TEETH)
  • 1/2 cup applesauce

How To Make homemade dog biscuits

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 375 F.
  • Step 2
In a medium bowl, combine flour & baking powder.
  • Step 3
In a separate bowl, mix peanut butter & milk (& applesauce if you choose to add it). Slowly add wet mixture to dry, and combine well.
  • Step 4
Flour a surface, and lightly knead the dough (doesn't have to be perfect.) Roll out to around 1/4-inch thickness and cut using a cookie cutter (we use a bone shape).
  • Step 5
Bake on a greased baking sheet for 20 minutes or until edges are browned. Cool & store in an airtight container.
