Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon plain animal derived gelatin
- 1 cup cold water
- 1 cup 50% reduced animal derived broth (with no additives or seasoning)
- 2 ounces optional add ins; meat shreds, chopped offal, diced pumpkin, etc.
How To Make kitty gelee
-
Step 1Bloom gelatin by sprinkling thin layers over cold water, letting each layer sink before sprinkling more. Once all gelatin has sunk, give it a light stir and wait five to ten minutes.
-
Step 2Heat broth with optional mix-ins to a low simmer (just under a boil).
-
Step 3Whisk half of the simmering broth (liquid only) into bloomed gelatin.
-
Step 4Whisk gelatin broth mixture into the simmering broth and optional add-ins (see note).
-
Step 5Simmer about 5 minutes, whisking continuously until gelatin mixture is completely incorporated.
-
Step 6Pour into molds or ice cube tray.
-
Step 7Refrigerate overnight.
-
Step 8Note: Cooking meat depletes taurine, an essential nutrient for obligate carnivores therefore this recipe should only be given as a snack. *add any raw food add ins after the gelee has cooled but before it has set.
