dog bones for dogs (my original recipe)
When I lived in Gaithersburg, Md, I made these in all flavors for my dogs Brandon and Reno. When I moved to Ohio, I lost this recipe, so was very glad I shared it with Mark! He gave it back to me. Therefore, this was the original recipe, and I have found others since, but this one brings back memories of wonderful dogs I loved and have since lost, waiting at the oven for a taste! Brandon even figured out how to drag the hot cookie sheet with his nails to spill the treats on the floor! That's high recommendation!

Step 1375 degree oven. Mix flour and soda. Mix broth, margarine and vanilla. Stir broth into flour, knead briefly. Roll to 1/4 inch thick, cut and bake 15-20 min. Makes 2 dozen My original recipe! Thanks to Mark! -) Have substituted beef broth or peanut butter for chicken broth. Used to make these for Brandon and Reno when I lived in Gaithersburg. They loved all flavors!

Step 2Triple Recipe with Broth of either flavor: 3 c whole wheat flour, 3 c flour, 3/8 t soda, 1 1/2 sticks butter, 2 c chicken or beef broth (no msg), 6 t vanilla.
-
Step 3Triple Recipe with Peanut Butter: 3 c whole wheat flour, 3 c flour, 3/8 t soda, 1 1/2 stick margarine, 3 c peanut butter then added water to make stick. This dough I made into balls like regular peanut butter cookies, and used a fork to flatten. They are just adorable!

Step 4NOTES: #1: Tori made them with me 1-25-19, a batch of chicken then the peanut butter. Her idea was to add cheese to the chicken or beef ones. I am thinking parmesan, small amount, in chicken one...or maybe adding carrots? #2: I thought maybe we could make it with pumpkin in place of the broth or peanut butter. #3: Could I make this with gluten free for kona, with rice flour instead of either other flour? Maybe one with oatmeal in place of a flour? So like rice flour and oatmeal...
