INGREDIENTS

3 tablespoons olive oil

½ onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large can (28 ounces) plum tomatoes

½ teaspoon dried basil

¼ teaspoon dried oregano

¼ teaspoon sugar

Salt and pepper to taste (I used ½ teaspoon salt and a few grates of freshly ground black pepper)

2 slices of bread, processed into crumbs
•
½ cup milk
•
1½ pounds ground beef
•
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
•
1 egg, lightly beaten
•
1 teaspoon salt
•
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste (I used about ¼ teaspoon)

¼ teaspoon dried basil

¼ teaspoon dried oregano

1 8 ounce container of small fresh Mozzarella balls packed in water (ciliegine)
