Ingredients

  • 1 lb
    ground venison
  • 1 c
    cooked barley
  • 1 medium
    onion chopped
  • 4 clove
    garlic minced
  • 1 c
    fresh mushrooms chopped
  • 3 large
    yukon gold potatoes diced
  • 32 oz
    beef broth
  • 28 oz
    can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 Tbsp
    ancho chili powder
  • 2 tsp
    cumin
  • 2 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 c
    frozen corn
  • 2 Tbsp
    cornstarch
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • ·
    salt and pepper to taste

How to Make Ground Venison Chili Style Stew

Step-by-Step

  1. Brown the venison in a large skillet. Add the onion and cook until browned. Add the garlic and cook 1 more minute. Set aside.
  2. Place broth in a large pot. Bring to a boil. Add the potatoes and cook 10 minutes. Add the crushed tomatoes, mushrooms, Ancho chili powder, cumin, Worcestershire sauce and corn. Cook 5 more minutes. Add the browned venison mixture. Stir in the cooked barley. Mix the cornstarch and water together. Add to pot stirring constantly until thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste
