Ingredients

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • - filling
  • 1 cup diced cooked turkey, packed
  • 1 cup grated longhorn cheese
  • 1/3 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin

How To Make turkey pastel

  • Step 1
    Combine flour and cornmeal, cut in cold butter until it resemble coarse cornmeal. Beat in ricotta until a soft dough forms.
  • Step 2
    Roll out half the dough into a 10-12" round. Place on lightly buttered baking sheet.
  • Step 3
    Combine filling ingredients. Spoon over pastry to within an inch of the edge. Roll out remaining dough. Place over filling. Seal the edges.
  • Step 4
    Bake at 400^ for 20-25 minutes until golden. Let stand 5-10 minutes and serve.
