Ingredients

  • 1 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/4 c
    cornmeal
  • 6 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    ricotta cheese
  • ·
    filling
  • 1 c
    diced cooked turkey, packed
  • 1 c
    grated longhorn cheese
  • 1/3 c
    green onions, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground cumin

How to Make Turkey Pastel

Step-by-Step

  1. Combine flour and cornmeal, cut in cold butter until it resemble coarse cornmeal. Beat in ricotta until a soft dough forms.
  2. Roll out half the dough into a 10-12" round. Place on lightly buttered baking sheet.
  3. Combine filling ingredients. Spoon over pastry to within an inch of the edge. Roll out remaining dough. Place over filling. Seal the edges.
  4. Bake at 400^ for 20-25 minutes until golden. Let stand 5-10 minutes and serve.
