Turkey Meat Loaf With A Brown Suger Sauce Recipe

I have been replacing ground turkey for ground beef for years and wanted to give my meat loaf a kick. This recipe is my own kicked up version from a bunch of recipes I've seen. I don't really measure things out I kind of eyeball it:)my Rachel Ray impression:) Hope your family enjoys it like my kids do!!!

    minced garlic
  • 1
    onions, yellow, medium(chopped)
  • 2 c
    bread crumbs, dry
  • 1
    egg(slightly beaten)
  • 2 dash(es)
    chili sauce(or to taste)
  • 1/2 c
    beef broth, reduced sodium
  • 2 dash(es)
    worcestershire sauce
  • 2 lb
    ground turkey
  • 1 tsp
    olive oil
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 c

How to Make Turkey Meat Loaf with A Brown Suger Sauce


  1. This mixture you can make the night before because it has to be cool when added into meat mixture.Chop onions, minced garlic and add to pan with olive oil. Saute'til onions are tender and start smelling the garlic. Add worceshire and beef broth and lower heat to simmer. Let simmer long enough for some of liquid to dissolve. Remove from heat and put in fridge to cool overnight or for bout 10 minutes.
  2. For meatloaf: Put ground turkey in bowl add chili sauce, egg, bread crumbs and onion garlic mixture. Use your hands to mix all ingredients together and form into a loaf. Put in loaf pan or on baking sheet if don't have a loaf pan. Put in preheated oven for 1 hr or less depending on oven plus turkey doesnt take long to cook.
  3. For Brown Suger Topping:While meat loaf is cooking, in a sperate bowel mix the brown sugar and ketchup together. Put mixture in microwave for about 15-20 seconds just til mixture is a little runny(like thick syrup). When meat loaf is almost done last 15mins pour brown suger mixture over meat and cook. When meat loaf is done remove from oven and let sit before cutting. ENJOY!!
