my new twist on stuffed peppers

Just thought I'd try something new tonight and add a little surprize in the middle. It's been a while since I made stuffed peppers. I only had three on hand, but thought I'd try this new way of making them. Woody and I were thrilled with the taste. Will be makeing these again for sure. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 4 - hard boild eggs
  • 4 - green peppers
  • 1 pound fresh gound turkey
  • 3/4 cup plain bread crumbs
  • 1/4 can ketchup
  • 1 - egg
  • 1/2 cup chopped sweet onion
  • 1/2 cup instant rice (uncooked)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 - 15 ounce can of tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey bbq sauce
  • - salt and pepper to taste

How To Make my new twist on stuffed peppers

  • Step 1
    Preheat your oven to 350.
  • Step 2
    Cover 4 eggs in water in a sauce pan and boil until hard boiled. Drain and peel and set aside to cool.
  • Step 3
    Wash pepper's and cut off top's and clean out seeds and set aside.
  • Step 4
    In a medium bowl; add ground turkey, bread crumbs, egg, onion, ketsup, rice, garlic salt, salt and pepper to taste and mix well.
  • Step 5
    Place in the center of hand some turkey mix and place an egg over it and add enough turkey mix to cover the egg completely.
  • Step 6
    Shape turkey mix around egg and gently press into the prepared green pepper.
  • Step 7
    Continue with the remaining mix, eggs and pepper's until all are filled.
  • Step 8
    Place filled pepper's in a pan side by side so they don't fall over and set aside.
  • Step 9
    In a medium bowl pour the tomato sauce and add the honey bbq sauce and blend well and pour over the filled peppers.
  • Step 10
    Place in pre-heated 350 oven on center rake and bake for 1 hour our until peppers are softened and meat is cooked through.
  • Step 11
    Remove from oven and serve with your favorite salad.
