Ingredients

  • 22 pounds turkey
  • 3 - carrots, chopped
  • 3 - celery, chopped
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 1 stick butter (hard)
  • 1/2 stick butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons thyme, dried
  • 1 - lemon, sliced
  • - salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup water

How To Make *** mom's turkey ***

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
  • Step 2
    Chop up vegetables, place 3/4 on bottom of roasting pan, with rack. Pour water into pan.
  • Step 3
    Take out neck & gizzards from inside cavity. Rinse & pat dry turkey. Place turkey on roasting rack. Shove remaining vegetables & 1 stick butter inside cavity.
  • Step 4
    In a small bowl, mix all seasonings together. Rub melted butter all over skin of turkey. Sprinkle seasoning mixture evenly over turkey. Randomly, place lemon slices over turkey. Bake for 1 hour, reduce heat to 325 degrees F for 2 hours.
