How To Make grandma belchers turkey and dressing for 2 people
-
Step 1Take giblet package out of thawed turkey. Put giblet in large pot with 1 1/2 quarts water. Boil for 1 hour ( bring to a rapid boil then turn it down to low) This is the broth for your dressing. let it cool before making your dressing.
-
Step 2Tear up the loaf of bread into small pieces, and croutons in large bowl**( I use on of those tin foil turkey pans). Add some of the broth to moisten. Add the diced onions and celery, salt, sage, eggs (beaten) and baking powder. Add enough broth to make it sloppy. Don't worry it will stiffen up as it bakes.
-
Step 3(This is important) Breast side goes down. Stuff the cavity of the turkey with some of the dressing. Put the turkey breast side down ( this is what makes the breast juicy) in the baking pan sprayed with Pam or greased,,,stuff the rest of the dressing around the turkey in the baking pan. no more than 2/3 full. The baking powder is going to make the dressing rise.Bake at 350 degrees until done..Internal temperature should be 170 to 180 degrees.
