Every year we smoke our own turkey for Thanksgiving and its done right in our oven. This is a little time consuming but worth it.

Ingredients

1/2 c
pickling salt
1 c
mortons tender quick
1 bottle
liquid smoke flavoring (i believe it's a 4oz bottle)
water enough to cover turkey

How to Make Brine for Smoking Turkey

Step-by-Step

  • 1In a large container (I use a 5 gal bucket with lid) mix everything together, put turkey into the brine and cover with water if it's not enough.
  • 2after 24 hours take bird out of brine and pat dry, place in a 350*F oven for one hour then turn oven down to 250*F and cook turkey until its done about 3 to 4 hours.
