Notes from the Test Kitchen:
Monte Cristo sandwiches are typically fried and I liked how this one is baked. The crescent dough is a great shortcut too. This recipe works great if you're serving a large crowd. It can easily be doubled and comes together in no time. This was REALLY good!

2 can(s)
flat sheet crescent rolls (or the regular ones)
1 pkg
low sodium deli ham (8 ounces), I use Hillshire farms
1 pkg
low sodium deli turkey ( 8 ounces), I use Hillshire farms
2 tsp
Dijon mustard
8 slice
flavorful Swiss cheese
2 tsp
Pam spray for baking dish
1 c
raspberry jam

How to Make Baked Monte Cristo Sandwiches

  • 1Spray 9X9 baking dish (use what you have handy).
  • 2Lay the flat crescent dough in the pan, if it's too big, just trim it to fit.
  • 3Spread 1 tsp mustard on the dough.
  • 4Lay turkey meat evenly on the dough.
  • 5Lay 4 slices of Swiss cheese on the turkey.
  • 6Place 1 tsp mustard on the cheese.
  • 7Lay ham evenly on the cheese.
  • 8Add remaining 4 slices of cheese on the ham.
  • 9Place flat piece of dough on top to cover it all.
  • 10Mix eggs with water and pour over the dough.
  • 11Bake for 20 minutes @ 375 until golden brown on center rack of oven.
  • 12Allow to cool slightly and serve with jam drizzled over the sandwich or on the side. The jam is an important part of the traditional flavor.
