This became one of my family's favorite meals from the first time I made it! I served it with a batch of mashed potatoes and the rest is history!

  • 1 1/2 lb
    sirloin steak (i prefer london broil or filet)
  • 3 Tbsp
  • 1 1/2 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 1 tsp
  • 1 tsp
    dry mustard
  • 1/2 c
  • 2 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1/2 lb
    vidalia or sweet onion, sliced thinly
  • 1 1/2 c
    beef bouillon
  • 1 Tbsp
  • 1 tsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 c
    sour cream

How to Make Steak & Onions


  1. Trim excess fat from meat. Cut meat into THIN strips.
  2. Combine flour, salt, pepper, paprika and mustard in a large zipper bag or large bowl, mix well. Add steak strips to flour mixture and shake to coat steak.
  3. Melt 1/3 of the butter in large heavy skillet. Add garlic, saute until golden brown. Remove from pan and set aside.
  4. Melt 1/3 more butter. Saute onions until tender but not brown, 6-10 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  5. Heat remaining butter, saute steak strips until browned. Add bouillon, garlic and onions.
  6. Stir to dissolve browned bits in skillet. Simmer, uncovered, 15-20 minutes, until meat is tender and mixture is thickened, stirring occasionally.
  7. Add ketchup, Worcestershire sauce and sour cream. Heat until just warm.
  8. Serve over mashed potatoes or egg noodles. Enjoy!
