Ingredients
- 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 teaspoons serrano chile, seeded and finely chopped
- 1 - avocado, peeled and diced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, divided
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon chipotle chile powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 - new york strip steaks, trimmed (8 ounces each)

Step 1Preheat your grill to high.

Step 2Place the first 6 ingredients in a bowl; gently stir in 1/4 teaspoon salt. Set aside.

Step 3Combine the remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt, cumin, and the next 4 ingredients (through cinnamon) in a bowl; rub the spice mixture over both sides of the steaks.

Step 4Place the steaks on the grill rack coated with cooking spray; grill 3 minutes on each side or until the desired degree of doneness is reached. Let stand 5 minutes; cut across the grain into thin slices. Serve with the salsa.
