surf and turf white cheddar grits

This is my own spin on traditional shrimp and grits - it was a HUGE hit at my house!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup 5 minute grits
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup chicken stock
  • 1/2 stick butter, salted
  • 1 cup white cheddar, shredded
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 1 tablespoon old bay seasoning
  • 3 tablespoons seasoned salt
  • 2 tablespoons coarsely ground pepper
  • 1/2 pound sirloin steak, cooked to your liking and sliced thin
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined, also cooked to your liking
  • 2 sprigs green onions, chopped

How To Make surf and turf white cheddar grits

  • Step 1
    Bring the water and stock to a boil in a medium sized sauce pan; add grits.
  • Step 2
    Reduce heat to medium-low, stir and add 1/2 stick butter through cayenne pepper.
  • Step 3
    Whisk together to fully incpororate ingredients and cover. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until grits are done and cheeses have melted. Remove from heat and keep covered.
  • Step 4
    Make sure to taste and adjust salt and pepper according to your taste.
  • Step 5
    Serve by topping grits with shrimp and steak; garnish with scallions.
