Ingredients
- 3 pounds dungeness crab meat, if frozen remove meat from the shell
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium shallot, chopped
- 1 inch piece of ginger, grated
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 jalapeno, seeded and chopped
- 1 large tomato, chopped
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon fish sauce
- 5 tablespoons butter cut into cubes
How To Make steamed crab with tomato butter

Step 1Remove the crab meat from the shells and set aside.

Step 2Add the oil to a saucepan. Saute the shallot, garlic, and jalapeno until softened. Add the tomato and cook for 2 minutes. Add the ketchup, salt, sugar, and fish sauce. Cook for 5 minutes.

Step 3Use an immersion blender or food processor to process until smoother.

Step 4Get a steamer ready and add the crab meat to steam.

Step 5While the crab is steaming put the tomato mixture back on the stove and whisk in the cold butter one cube at a time.

Step 6Serve with the crab.
