Ingredients
- 1/4 cup tamarind paste
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1 inch piece of ginger grated
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon fish sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 16 shrimp peeled and deveined
- scallions for garnish
How To Make shrimp braised in tamarind sauce

Step 1Place the Tamarind paste in a bowl and add the warm water and let sit for 30 minutes. Transfer the mud like mixture to a fine mesh strainer pushing with a spoon and scraping the out side of the strainer into a bowl. You want to have about 1/4 cup of Tamarind juice Set aside.

Step 2Add a little bit of oil to a wok. Add the ginger and garlic and saute 1 minute. Add the Tamarind juice and cook 30 seconds. Add the water, sugar, fish sauce, and soy sauce bring to a boil then cook for 2 minutes.

Step 3Add the shrimp and cook 3 minutes until pink. Remove from heat and serve garnished with scallions.
