This is the best Shrimp Boil recipe ever! You'll find it so easy to follow and all the ingredients cooked to perfection using the timed directions. This recipe comes very close to the famous crawfish boils of N'awlins.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup mccormick old bay seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 4 quarts water
  • 1 can (12 oz) beer*
  • 8 medium red potatoes, cut in quarters
  • 2 large sweet onions, cut in wedges
  • 2 pounds lean, smoked sausage, cut in 2-inch lengths
  • 6 ears fresh corn, broken in half
  • 4 pounds large shrimp in shells

How To Make shrimp boil

  • Step 1
    In an 8-quart pot, bring Old Bay, salt, water, and beer to a boil.
  • Step 2
    Add potatoes and onions; cook over high heat for 8 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Add smoked sausage to potatoes and onions; continue to cook on high for 5 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Add corn to pot; continue to boil for 7 minutes.
  • Step 5
    Add shrimp in shells, cook for 4 minutes.
  • Step 6
    TIP: *Alternative to beer: Substitute chicken broth or chicken stock.
