Ingredients
- 4 slices bacon
- 10 cups water divided
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 2 cups grits
- 1 1/2 cups shredded gouda cheese
- 3 tablespoons butter divided
- 2 teaspoons cracked black pepper
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 2 pounds shrimp peeled and deveined.
- 1/4 cup dry white wine
- juice of 1 lemon
- 4 green onions diced
How To Make shrimp, & bacon with creamy gouda grits

Step 1Cook the bacon until crisp. Remove to paper towel once cooled break into small pieces. Set aside. Reserve the bacon grease

Step 2Place water in a large pot. Add the salt and bring to a boil. Whisk in the grits and cook for 10 minutes on med low heat. Whisk to keep lumps away. Add the cheese and 2 tbsp of butter and cook until cheese is melted and smooth. Taste and season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover and set aside.

Step 3Add the garlic to the bacon grease and saute 1 minute. Add the shrimp and cook until pink on both sides. Remove shrimp and deglaze with the wine. Let most evaporate.

Step 4Add the shrimp and bacon back to the pan and add the remaining tbsp of butter and lemon juice.

Step 5Serve over the grits and topped with green onions.
