Ingredients
- SAUCE
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 2 teaspoons grated ginger
- 2 teaspoons chili garlic sauce
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons hoisin sauce
- 1/4 cup tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup rice wine or dry sherry
- SCALLOPS
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 16 sea scallops
- salt and pepper
How To Make seared scallops in red sauce

Step 1First make the sauce. Add the oil to a saucepan. Cook the garlic and ginger 1 minute. Add the remaining sauce ingredients and simmer 3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 2For the scallops, add the oil to another pan. Season the scallops with salt and pepper. Sear the scallops ,working in batches if needed, over high heat for about 2 minutes per side.

Step 3Plate the sauce and top with the seared scallops.
