How To Make low country boil mmb
-
Step 1This is sort of a no recipe recipe. The items in the ingredient list are constant, and then you can add whatever seafood you want in the amounts you need to feed your crowd.
-
Step 2My favorite way is 3 pounds of crab legs 3 pounds of crawdads 2 pounds of shrimp
-
Step 3You can easily add clams, mussels, or whatever other seafood you like.
-
Step 4Use the largest pot you have to bring water to a boil. I normally use my large canning pot. Lots of folks will use an outdoor stock pot like you use for frying a turkey.
-
Step 5I add the potatoes, lemon, whole head of garlic and seasoning bag right away. The potatoes will take the longest to cook. After about 20-30 minutes, I add the corn and sausage.
-
Step 6Once the water comes to a boil add your seafood. Make sure you have a strainer and a large bowl to put your cooked food into. It only takes about 5 minutes for the seafood to cook if your water is boiling. Scoop out the seafood with a large strainer and place in a large bowl.
-
Step 7If you have a large table outside, cover it in newspaper or butcher paper and scatter the boil on the table. This is a messy meal. Make sure you have lots of napkins and a bowl or trashcans to toss the shells. If you don't have an outdoor space, I just leave it in the bowl and set it in the middle of the table.
-
Step 8The garlic- This turns out so buttery and flavorful. I normally have sliced crusty bread. I push out a clove of garlic onto the crusty bread. MMMMM
-
Step 9I normally let the potatoes cook for about 45 minutes before adding the seafood. It works out perfectly for me, because that is about how long it takes for the large pot of water to come to a boil.
