Ingredients
- 1 pound calamari cut into rings tentacles left whole
- juice of 1 lemon
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon each salt and garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- oil for frying
- DIPPING SAUCE
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup prepared horseradish
How To Make fried calamari with horseradish dipping sauce

Step 1Mix the ingredients for the dipping sauce together and set aside in the fridge. Place the calamari in a bowl and squeeze the lemon juice over it mixing with fingers to coat. Let marinate while getting the oil hot

Step 2Mix the spices with the flour. Place the flour mixture into two separate bowls

Step 3Add buttermilk to a third bowl. Bring the oil to 375 degrees.

Step 4Dredge the calamari in flour shaking off excess. Then into the buttermilk then into the flour again.

Step 5Deep fry in batches for about 2 or 3 minutes. Don't fry to long or they will become rubbery. Serve with dipping sauce.
