I'm getting ready for grilling season and these sound great.

prep time 20 Min
cook time 15 Min
method Grill
yield 4 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • - salt and pepper, to taste
  • - oil, for brushing
  • 4 - flour tortillas (6-inch)
  • - fresh cilantro, chopped
  • - lettuce, optional
  • GUACAMOLE:
  • 2 - ripe avocados, halved, pitted
  • 1 - garlic clove, crushed
  • 2 - tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 - lime, juiced (or lemon)
  • 1/2 small fresh green chili, seeded and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro

How To Make tex mex burgers

  • Step 1
Combine the first 4 ingredients in a bowl. Add salt and pepper, to taste. Mix well. Divide into 4 portions.
  • Step 2
Shape each portion into a patty.
  • Step 3
Make guacamole: Scoop the avocado flesh into a bowl and mash with a fork, then mix in the garlic, tomatoes, lime juice, chili and cilantro. Add salt and pepper, to taste. Cover the surface of the guacamole with plastic wrap, leaving no air between plastic wrap and guacamole.
  • Step 4
Brush the burgers lightly with oil. Grill on a medium-hot barbecue for 8-10 minutes, or until cooked through. Turn the burgers once during cooking.
  • Step 5
Just before serving, heat the tortillas on the barbecue for about 15 seconds on each side. Place a spoonful of guacamole and a burger on each tortilla, then fold the tortilla over. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve plain or with lettuce.
