This is an excellent sandwich for lunch, or as a lite dinner, outside on the porch.

It’s easy to assemble, and tastes wonderful. So yummy.

So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

Ingredients

PLAN/PURCHASE

THE CHICKEN FRIED STEAK

1/4 c
flour, all purpose variety
1 tsp
garlic powder
1 tsp
paprika
1 tsp
black pepper, freshly ground
1 pinch
cayenne
1/2 tsp
salt, kosher variety
1/2 c
milk, or buttermilk
1 large
egg, beaten
4 oz
cube steak
peanut oil, enough to fill a skillet 1/2 inch (1.3cm) in depth.

THE ASSEMBLY

2 slice
sourdough bread, lightly toasted
lettuce, for garnish, or a bed of coleslaw
sliced tomatoes, for garnish
pickles for garnish, i like good tangy dills.
mayonnaise, or your favorite mustard or sauce

How to Make Spicy Breaded Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich

Step-by-Step

  • 1PREP/PREPARE
  • 2THE CHICKEN STEAK
  • 3Gather your ingredients.
  • 4Place the milk, or buttermilk, in a shallow bowl, and add the steak.
  • 5Allow to rest in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  • 6Meanwhile, add the flour, garlic powder, paprika black pepper, cayenne, and salt to a shallow bowl, and combine.
  • 7Add the beaten egg to another shallow bowl.
  • 8Remove the steak from the milk, or buttermilk, shake off any excess, and coat in the flour mixture.
  • 9Shake away any excess flour, and dip in the egg mixture.
  • 10Shake away any excess egg, and coat a second time in the flour.
  • 11Place the steak on a wire rack, and allow it to rest for 15 minutes.
  • 12Chef’s Note: This will help dry out the crust and make it nice and crispy.
  • 13Add 1/2-inch (1.3cm) of peanut oil to a skillet, over medium heat.
  • 14When the oil reaches 350f (175c), add the steak,and cook until nice and brown on both sides, about 2 minutes per side.
  • 15THE ASSEMBLY
  • 16Add your favorite sauce, mayo, or whatever you like to one side of each piece of bread.
  • 17Chef's Note: This is my favorite sauce:

  • 18Lay down a bed of lettuce.
  • 19Add the chicken-fried steak.
  • 20Add the sliced tomatoes.
  • 21Top with the other piece of bread.
  • 22PLATE/PRESENT
  • 23Cut in half, and serve with your favorite side. Enjoy.
