Monte Cristo Sandwich

Sara Andrea

The Monte Cristo is my husbands favorite sandwich. He gets it whenever we visit Disneyland, at the Blue Bayou. However, that's only about once every 3-5 years so I created our own version of this tasty treat. You won't be disappointed.

How to Make Monte Cristo Sandwich

  1. Lay out two pieces of bread and spread desired amount of mayo on each slice (I like about 1/2 T on each slice). Pile on 1 slice of turkey, 1 slice of ham, and 1 slice of cheese. Put the third slice of bread on one stack than flip over the second pile, cheese side down. Using a knife, cut the crust off the sandwich, wrap the sandwich tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. Do this for all 6 sandwiches.
  2. Combine eggs and whipping cream in a bowl. Beat. Set aside.
  3. Heat 1 T butter and 2T oil in pan. Work in batches of 2 sandwiches each, unwrap sandwich, dip in egg mixture, and place in pan. Flip after 2 minutes. Cook 2 minutes more the, using tongs, fry the edges. Place on cookie sheet in oven to keep warm. Do this same process for batch 2 and 3.
  4. Serve with grape jelly, raspberry jelly, and vanilla sauce.
