These are easy, delicious little sammies that are fun to eat as well as make. I love them with homemade tomato sauce.

Ingredients

  • HOMEMADE TOMATO SAUCE
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium shallot, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/3 cup red wine
  • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • salt
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • MEATBALL SLIDERS
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 pound ground pork
  • 1/4 cup pancetta or bacon, cooked and cut into small chunks
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
  • salt and pepper
  • 8 slider buns
  • 8 slices fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup fresh arugula

How To Make meatball parm sliders

  • Step 1
To make the tomato sauce: Place the olive oil in a Dutch oven. Add the onions and garlic and season with salt. Cook until the onions are browned.
  • Step 2
Add the red wine and cook until most is evaporated.
  • Step 3
Add the crushed tomatoes, red pepper flakes, sugar, Italian seasoning, and 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer and simmer for 1 hour.
  • Step 4
For the meatballs, place the ground beef, ground pork, cooked pancetta, garlic, bread crumbs, egg, and Parmesan in a large bowl. Add salt and pepper. Let it sit in the fridge for 1 hour.
  • Step 5
In a large skillet, add some butter and once hot, place the buns upside down in the pan to brown the insides. Remove the buns and set aside.
  • Step 6
Add oil to the pan and roll the meat into 8 meatballs. Place in the oil and brown on all sides.
  • Step 7
While the meatballs cook, place a slice of mozzarella on the bottom of the buns and place the arugula on the top bun.
  • Step 8
Put a spoonful of tomato sauce on the top of each meatball and cover and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Step 9
Place a meatball with sauce on the top of the cheese on each bottom bun. Place the top bun on and enjoy.
