Updated on Jul 24, 2019
I've taken the classic Cuban sandwich recipe and added a few twists to it. I hope you enjoy it! Note: you can you any type of sandwich or panini press. If you don't have a press, you can do it in a skillet and press down on the sandwich with another weighted skillet.

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened
- 1 12-inch cuban bread baguette (or 2 slices of white bread)
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon hellman's mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon diced pimento (or to taste)
- 1 tablespoon tomato sauce
- 2 slices ham
- 2 slices roasted pork
- 2 slices swiss cheese
- 2-3 slices dill pickle, thin sliced
How To Make kathy's cuban sandwich
-
Step 1Get your press ready (can use a panini press) - buttering or oiling so it won't stick - and heat it up.
-
Step 2Spread the butter and mayo on one slice of bread. Spread mustard and tomato sauce on the other slice of bread.
-
Step 3Lay 1 slice of cheese on the bottom slice, then layer with the ham, roast pork, and pimento. Top with 1 more slice of cheese. Put the other slice of bread on top (condiments faced inward).
-
Step 4Put the sandwich on the press and press down firmly to desired thickness and wait until the press light turns green (or when bread is flattened, toasted, and cheese has melted.
-
Step 5Take the finished sandwich off of the press. Slice in half and enjoy!
